
Overview
As the first urologist in Palm Beach County to perform a robotic laparoscopic radical prostatectomy—an innovative treatment for prostate cancer—and having helped develop the transvaginal urethral sling procedure for female urinary incontinence, Dr. Cohen is a recognized expert in his field. Committed to providing state of the art urological care, he was also the first urologist in the county to perform bladder cancer surgery in which a bladder is formed out of the intestinal tract, allowing the patient to be appliance free. Practicing since 1990, Dr. Cohen has been listed in national peer-nominated Top Docs and Super Doctors lists, as well as awarded Patient Choice and Most Compassionate Doctor awards.
Dr. Cohen completed his undergraduate training, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, and earned his medical degree with highest honors from George Washington University where he went on to complete his surgical internship and residency followed by entering into the urology program where he served as Chief Resident.
Elected Chief of Urology at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL in 1994, he has held various leadership roles including Medical Director of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery after starting the program in 2003. He has been published in numerous professional medical journals and has presented on many urologic topics both nationally and internationally. Trained in all aspects of adult and pediatric urology, Dr. Cohen employs the latest treatment modalities. He has special interest and training in urological cancer surgery, female incontinence and surgery, non-surgical/minimally invasive treatment of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, and laser treatment of kidney stones.
